Comparing Performative Change, Strategic Planning and Business Planning

Change is an unavoidable part of life, and a necessary component of a successful business. However, the type of change and the method of planning that is employed is critical to the success of the organization. This essay will examine the differences between performative change, strategic planning and business planning and the implications of each.

Performative Change

Performative change is an approach to change that focuses on creating change through a variety of means, such as consultancy or training, in order to improve the performance of an organization. It typically involves a team of experts who assess the current situation and develop a plan of action to make changes. The goal is to make the organization more efficient, productive and profitable.
Performative has been getting a lot of bad press in political circles. Improving the performance of a company is no small feat and more of a process than a destination.

Strategic Planning

Strategic planning is the process of developing a long-term plan for the future of an organization. It requires the evaluation of current and future goals, resources and obstacles, and the development of a plan to achieve these goals. Strategic planning involves setting clear objectives and strategies, determining the steps to achieve them, and monitoring progress to ensure the goals are met.

Business Planning

Business planning is the process of creating a plan of action for the day-to-day operations of an organization. It involves analyzing the current situation, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, and developing a strategy to capitalize on the strengths and mitigate the weaknesses. Business planning often includes budgeting, setting timelines, and creating policies and procedures to ensure the goals are met.

Conclusion

Performative change, strategic planning and business planning are all critical components of organizational success. It is important to understand the differences between the three, and the implications of each, in order to choose the best approach for a given situation. By understanding the differences between the three, organizations can more effectively implement change and achieve their goals.
